A short guide to help you prepare for your trip
Now that you are there, it is time to visit this region.
Let's start with Moliet and Maa located north of our discovery area Moliet et Maa is a discreet and natural little village. You will discover its beaches as far as the eye can see, its pond, but also its natural reserve of the "current of Huchet". A real nugget between beaches and forest, you can visit it on foot or by boat (with a boatman). This place is called "the Landaise Amazon"... you will quickly understand why on the spot.
Now follow the beach to the south to reach the village of Messanges. Messanges, a charming village in bloom all year round, welcomes you between fine sandy beaches, pine forests, sand biking and its flagship sport, surfing. In summary, idleness, sport and unspoiled nature will be your travel companions in Messanges
Still further south, Vieux Boucau les Bains. This seaside resort built around its marine lake and its island, will allow you to move easily by bike or on foot. Vieux Boucau has 3 beaches (Plage Centrale, Plage Nord des Sablères, Plage du Lac Marin). these are of course supervised and easily accessible from the city center. You will also find many surf schools on these beaches.
Let's cross the "current of Souston" to arrive in the town of Souston. If Soustons also has beautiful sandy beaches, this village is interesting for families looking for a little more calm, especially when you have young children. Its supervised marine lake, allows you to swim in complete safety, to walk, to cycle, sail, canoe, or go fishing .... without worrying about the waves (there are none not on the lake). Landes forest and marine lake in the heart of the city promise you peaceful holidays... And all this just 2 kilometers from the beaches for the more adventurous.
Here we are in Seignosse. As on all this coast, Seignosse also has its share of beautiful beaches. The village a little away from the hustle and bustle offers you to take a free shuttle to go to the beach from the village... It's good for the planet... Take advantage of its pretty market, or take a walk around the black pond before heading to the beaches. Unless you are a golf fan and prefer to play a game on a course surrounded by nature.
Let's continue south...Hossegor welcomes us. Hossegor is 7 kilometers of beaches, 4 of which are supervised, and its surf spots are well known to water sports enthusiasts. You want to learn to surf...link But Hossegor is also its golf course, its marine lake and beautiful houses from the 1920s/1930s
Let's end our walk along the beaches of the Landes by Capbreton As always on this coast, Capbreton has beautiful sandy beaches as far as the eye can see. You can also discover on the beach of "la Savane" near the city center, a series of bunkers from the 1940/1945 war planted there on the sand resistant to the incessant waves of the ocean. In this regard we better understand the rise of the ocean, these bunkers were at the time at the top of the dunes tens of meters from the coastline.
If you like to walk a little, you can follow the "sentier des Dunes" or the circuit of the "Tuc of the 9 churches" Or go see the lights of the dam on the side of the Estacade
I hope to have made you want to visit and discover this coast of the Landes which really deserves a detour or more surely, to spend these holidays there as the activities are numerous. I wish you a good trip and good souvenir photos
