Iconic Palace of Andalusia
Like Seville Cathedral, the Alcazar is a must in the capital of Andalusia. Throughout our stroll through the "corridors" of this magnificent palace, we will be charmed by its beauty. A trip out of time and unforgettable photos. But where does the word "Alcazar" come from? From the Arabic word "Al-Gasr" which means "fortress or palace". It has undergone numerous Moorish and Christian influxes throughout the centuries. It belongs since 1987 to the cultural heritage of UNESCO King Felipe V makes it his residence when he comes to Seville. By the way, if the king is present at the palace on the day of your visit, it will be difficult for you to visit him :( A few tips and tricks before describing the splendors you will see in this palace
How long to visit it? 3 hours
Remember to buy your skip-the-line tickets or risk queuing for hours in high season
The palace is open all year except January 1 and 6 and December 25
The visit is free every Monday (finally!! the last 2 hours of the day)...not the time to see everything but it may make you want to come back for longer.
Come out of season if possible...spring or autumn (it will be cooler and there will be fewer people)
It's time to take a look at what you will see with your own eyes You will probably arrive by metro. Get off at "Puerto de Jerez" station...the address of the Alcazar is "Patio de Banderas". But don't worry, you'll find it easily. You won't be able to miss the entrance to the old fortress... THERE will certainly already be crowded :)
After passing through the front door, you will arrive on a first large courtyard. You will have crossed before on your right, the room of justice not to be missed. From there, you can start your visit with several rooms under the arcades, then you will enter directly in front of you in a room magnificently decorated with mosaic... So beautiful that you will have trouble taking a few good photos without anyone on it .
Along the way, you will pass from room to room, cross corridors, admire the mosaics! you will be amazed by all these ornamental riches
You can admire the multiple pools that are so refreshing on very hot days...And in summer in Andalusia it can get really hot!
I will finish with these few photos which will give you... I hope... the desire to visit this Alcazar palace in Seville
I wish you a good visit through this journey to the times of the palaces of a thousand and one nights. And good souvenir photos to share.
