Prepare my trip

And now the date of July 25 is approaching. I have been preparing for this trip for months. A Road trip in the South West part of Norway...Where are the most beautiful fjords. But all this is prepared with great care. -Move -Housing -Eat -Choose your route -Choose departure date -Choose your clothes -Choose your photo/video equipment -change currency

In order to find the most stable weather conditions in this part of Norway, it is best to leave between mid-June and mid-August...it will therefore be the end of July for 15 days. The itinerary depended on the means of transport. I chose the motorhome. Not for the price...no, it's extremely expensive...but for the convenience. I have planned a journey of almost 2000kms in 15 days.

2nd advantage of the motorhome, housing. Much more flexible than planning several months in advance for chalets in campsites or Airbnbs as well as a rental car to get around. The choice of camping car allows you to better manage the trip, to free yourself from constraints (weather, less interest of a site, a little space on days of bad weather...). Our stay will confirm that it was the right choice...but we'll talk about it in another post.

3rd advantage, food. a quick trip to a supermarket and here is our meal taken quietly facing a pretty lake at the edge of the road.

The choice of camping car can be scary given the prices charged (3000euros for 15 days)...but you have to put things into perspective...you have to count for a chalet or a lodge in a campsite about 100euros per night... or 1500 euros of accommodation. To this you must add car rental unless you want to come with your own...in this case you have to take into account the 2000kms to reach Norway and the 3 or 4 days of return trips (petrol, toll, cork...) and other festivities to meet during the long journey. Although I know some who consider this "approach" trip as an integral part of the trip itself (I actually part of it) To this we must add the plane tickets...we left with KLM...(I will tell you about some adventures in my next blog)

Other elements to take into account the currency... In Norway the Euro does not take place... the payments are made in Norwegian krone (NOK), it is necessary to count 1 Nok for 0.10 euros

To finish with this preparation part, the suitcase. We had 4 big bags for 4 people...we had to. You have to plan for the hottest days (it can be 30 degrees) but also for bad days (we had days with barely 6 degrees and rain)

Ah!! one last thing and not least...your photo/video equipment...neither too much nor too little, think carefully about the memories you want to bring back...no need to take all your lenses, or even all your cameras. A box is enough (at worst it will remain your smartphone :)), one or two lenses, it all depends on your practice (macro, landscape, animal, urban...), batteries, all in a suitable bag that will protect your equipment in all conditions.

In conclusion ... prepare your trip well to appreciate it in all its dimension ... that it remains an unforgettable memory ... whether alone, in couple or in family ... you will appreciate this magnificent country.
