From Toulouse Blagnac airport to Geilo

July 25...the big day has arrived. Travel and photos at your fingertips.

Takeoff at 7:10 am from Toulouse under the storm. Not a sound in the plane, the tension is palpable, the lightning lights up the cabin as in broad daylight... Can't wait for us to pass above the clouds After a few minutes finally the blue sky, our journey can begin. I would have liked to take some photos of our departure but I didn't really have the heart for it. The turbulence got the better of my motion sickness.

We left with KLM...Toulouse/Frankfurt/Oslo.

If I'm telling you this, it's because the storm delayed our flight by almost 2 hours. Going with the same company from the beginning to the end of your trip is a good calculation when there are stopovers. If I can give you any advice, it's this one...Arrived in Frankfurt, a hostess led us directly to our plane for Oslo, this one was waiting for us...we were the last ones, all the passengers were sat for a while in my opinion. Their looks when we entered the aircraft spoke volumes...

An hour later we land in Norway...Oslo-Gardermoen airport. This airport is located 45kms northeast of Oslo; To get to Oslo, I recommend the NSB train (25 min journey for around 10 euros). There is also the bus (45mn for 17.50euros) or the quite expensive taxi and it takes 40mn. For us it will be easier, our landlord is waiting for us on arrival. The motorhome is in front of the airport...we get in with the luggage and off we go a few minutes away to draw up the travel documents, have the operation of our vehicle explained to you...all in English!!. ..We told him that everything was OK....We will realize later that we had not really understood how to start the gas fridge.... Fortunately we noticed the problem before putting our shopping "cool". A good translation app would have helped us a lot.

It is 3 p.m. we leave the deposit of our rental company. We have 250kms to do from Oslo to reach Geilo. It's July, it's hot, around 28 degrees....Yes!! it is possible in this season in Norway. Next stop Geilo, a small town known above all for its ski resort in winter, which is between 800 and 1,178 m above sea level. The station has 34kms of slopes for skiers and snowborders.. The winter climate is harsher as you can see in the photo below.

We discover for the first time the Norwegian countryside west of Oslo. Honestly apart from the typical Scandinavian houses, the landscape in this part of the country does not make us "dream". A series of valleys and winding roads...can't wait for the rest. Maybe our mind is already elsewhere...images of magnificent fjords in mind.

Around 7 p.m. we approach the Birkelund campsite in Geilo where we will spend the night. A well-deserved aperitif...a quick meal bought before leaving Oslo and here we are in bed around 10 p.m....A very long day. Tomorrow we are going to get closer to the Fjords and discover all the splendours of this country. But you will find out in my next post.
