Everyone knows Bordeaux, whether in France or around the world ... its exceptional wines have been renowned for centuries ... but Bordeaux is also 350 buildings classified as Historic Monuments, some of which are listed as Heritage Global since 1998.

So I'm going to tell you about Bordeaux through a marked route...you just have to follow small bronze plaques on the ground so you don't miss anything on this circuit which will make you discover the most beautiful monuments of the city.

Let's go on a beautiful journey to discover this city with its exceptional architecture. Remember to take your camera you will have beautiful souvenir photos to bring back.

First of all a small plan to locate the circuit which is 5 kms and which can be done easily in 3 hours.

Don't forget to follow the bronze plaques on the ground :)

First of all, where to stay in Bordeaux?

You will find many quality accommodations in this city by following this link

Bordeaux is also an excellent Tram or Bus network

Remember to get your City Pass

You can also enjoy an excursion on the Garonne before starting your stroll in the city or at the end of your stroll:

- a cruise with a glass of wine

- or a guided cruise on the Garonne to discover the city from the river

I therefore suggest that you start our journey with the Place de la Bourse located on the banks of the Garonne, this former Place Royale is made up of the Hôtel de la Bourse and the Hôtel des Fermes built in 1728.

Its water mirror has been reflected since 2006 on the 18th century facades.

A tip: Be patient for your photos, it fills up and empties regularly

This medieval gate, 35 meters high, faces the river and the Pont de Pierre.

You can visit it with your City Pass.

Porte Cailhau

Here we go again, direction Place du Palais then cross the CR Alsace and Lorraine, take rue Buhau and follow rue St James.

You are in front of the Big Clock. This former town hall belfry was built in the 15th century. It also served as a prison.

You can visit it as well as the church of St Jacques which adjoins it.

Let's continue our journey through the city.

Turn right from the town hall and take Rue Bouffard to Place Gambetta (rest in the square if you wish).

On your right the Dijeaux gate, go under it and go up to the CGR cinema. This cinema will surprise you...its arched entrance topped with columns is more reminiscent of a hotel than a cinema.

On its right between 2 columns a location which was to receive a statue in its time

Cross the Place des Grands Hommes (PatricKKKKK!!!! :) ) and head towards the Presbytery of the Notre Dame Church... There, continue to follow the bronze plaques on the ground which will lead you to the National Opera

Our trip is coming to an end.

Go towards the Allées de Touny then the Monument des Girondins

Located Place des Quinconces, this monument was built between 1894 and 1902 in memory of the Girondins deputies who died during the French Revolution under the "Regime of Terror".

Here you are at the end of your journey facing the Quai Louis XVIII.
